Morning Green Smoothie Recipe

I don't usually post about food or recipes but I wanted to share the new breakfast that I've been having for the past two months. I literally used to eat a ZONE or Balance bar every morning for the past 16 years! When I started an elimination diet two months ago to find out why I've been feeling like garbage and what's causing my belly bloat-I had to replace the processed protein bar with whole foods. I have to give credit to our fabulous, local Wegmans grocery market-I had a sample in store and loved the balance of greens and fruit. This is slightly changed from their recipe but I will say it was the inspiration.

Since I've broken two blenders, I thought it'd be wise to invest in something a little more high powered like the Magic Bullet by Nutri*Bullet. Wow-I'm so glad I did. It literally mixes and crushes in 60 seconds. It's so easy to clean and to take shakes on the go. I bought mine at Bed, Bath & Beyond so was able to use a 20% off coupon and score it for under $100.

One of the specific items I cut out since starting this journey was dairy. Replacing yogurt with coconut milk seemed slightly daunting and I will admit I salivated the first time walking by the cheese isle, but I was so surprised at how similar this SO Delicious tastes just like yogurt! It was such an easy replacement for my diet.

handful of fresh spinach
1 SO Delicious Vanilla Coconut Milk
1 handful of frozen assorted fruit (I like mango, pineapple, peaches and strawberries)
1 banana
1 tsp of Flax Seed (opt)
Fill with coconut water up to mix line

*Wegmans suggests using the yogurt container as your measuring cup and I LOVE this idea! It gives the best balance of ingredients and is great if you are someone who likes to follow a recipe to a T! (as I do)

Place ingredients into blender in order listed above. Blend for 60 seconds. Enjoy!
