Tassels and such...

[dress: FP, bralette: aerie, necklace: SD, shoes: solesociety-Remmi(on sale $30!), sunnies: bobbi brown, clutch: bcbg, bracelets: Emerson&Oliver]

I was drying my hair this morning and wondered how it would look if I just flipped a huge portion of it to the opposite side. Kind of like a prettier version of the comb over. Secured with a bobby pin and here ya go!

I recently went to Aerie to stalk out some more lace bralettes. They are all on sale for $15! I love the t-back one I bought in petal pink, and it took all my restraint not to buy one in every other color. I also picked up a coral padded one and then spotted a genius bra--the beige t-shirt bra with navy straps. I'm always wearing nude bras which scream completely boring-I know. I just do not have time in the morning to figure out what I'm wearing AND what bra will not show underneath, so my nudie option works with everything. However, I am completely aware at how ugly and matronly the straps look. Now if my straps peek out, they will be a cute navy-that I can live with!

Latest obsessed mission was to find black sandals with a small block heel that I could walk around in, feel slightly dressy and slightly casual all at the same time. I was on the hunt, bought a pair, returned them, scoured the internet and finally found these on SoleSociety. If you haven't been to the website-it's great. Free Shipping, Free Returns-my fave! Actually now they are having a BIG sale! The shoes I'm wearing are $30 and come in a gorgeous Rose color (didn't have my size or I would have snatched them) and beige. tooSign up here to start shopping!

Let's talk this dress--it's Free People and I got it on sale for $78 at the local Von Maur department store. I am in love with it! I Sc-sc-scoured the internet to find it for you guys! Comes in ivory too. LOVE! Find it here. I'm wearing a small because that is all they had left, but I think XS would have worked a little better.

A big shout out to my cuz Marci for gifting me this glitzy BCBG clutch. Have you been seeing tassels everywhere? Me too and I love them. The tassel on the Stella & Dot necklace can be removed, but why would anyone do that?! XO

Coin Collector

[necklaces + bracelet: SJs, tank: SJs, denim: J.Crew (on sale!), shoes: NineWest (old)]

I wanted to show you another collab that I did with SJ's Boutique. I love the asymmetry of the navy tank as well as the texture change to the back, making it feel light and airy. If you haven't noticed, navy + white have been on my radar lately. It has such a crisp nautical look that is quintessential for Summer!

Coined adorned jewelry is everywhere right now and since I like to layer, both the short and long pieces worked well together. I like the vintage look to them-find them both at SJ's!

Excuse me? You want me to put WHAT on my face?

Since I've started using Beautycounter products, I have incorporated mixing oil with my moisturizer before applying to my face. I love the clean, slightly floral smell or the Lustro Oil #2 but have purchased oil #3 for anyone to try that wants to spot treat acne, eczema or psoriasis. My skin has never felt so hydrated before! Read below to find out why you should use oils too and go here if you want to buy.

Body Oil Q&A:

How do I apply Lustro Body Oil?
Try using the Body Oils straight from the shower on damp skin for luminous moisture — or by mixing a few drops into Beautycounter's Hydrate Everyday Body Lotion (when skin feels extra thirsty).

What’s so bad about “fragrance”?
Because “fragrance” is classified as a trade secret in the beauty industry, companies are not required to disclose the ingredients contained in product fragrance. Translation: companies don’t have to tell you what it actually is (in order to hide harmful ingredients).

What are the benefits of Rosemary Oil?
Rosemary oil is said to have skin cleansing properties, helping to remove impurities from the skin's surface.

How is the essential oil extracted from the jasmine flower?
BeautyCounter uses jasmine oil that has been steam-distilled. This means that the essential oil was extracted from the flowers through boiling or steaming, without the use of chemical solvents. Steam distillation provides a pure, unpolluted form of the precious oil.

What are the benefits of jasmine oil?
The aromatic effects of jasmine oil are well known — its mood-lifting properties, plus its ability to relax and de-stress, have made it a favorite essential oil for centuries.

Face Oil: Q&A

#1 – Calendula is known to soothe, moisturize, and refresh all skin types. It has a warm, earthy floral scent that works great for sensitive or irritated skin.

#2 – Jasmine has a heady white floral scent and it enhances the appearance of skin suppleness and tone. It is ideal for dry or tired skin.

#3 – Ylang ylang and wild chamomile balance oil production and soothe skin. this is ideal for very dry, very oily or complicated combination skin.

Ingredients: In addition to their unique signature oil, they all contain the same 7 oils: rose hip oil, virgin grape seed oil, sea buckthorn oil, virgin argan nut oil, marula oil, meadow foam seed oil, rose otto oil.

While many of us have been conditioned to think that oil is bad for skin, the opposite is actually true: Pure plant based oils are incredibly healing for even the most problematic skin.Below are three ways Lustro Face Oils can make your complexion better, all around:

  • chock full of powerful antioxidants and essential fatty acids (EFAs) that protect, smooth and plump skin
  • oily, acne-prone complexions can benefit from pure plant based oils thanks to their naturally occurring antimicrobal and ultra-hydrating properties
  • synthetic oils created in labs can sit on the skin's surface and clog pores

Crochet Lace Dress and Most Fave Heels with SJ's Boutique

Recently I was asked to collaborate with Pittsford boutique-SJ's. This lucky girl got to choose 4 outfits to wear around town. Pittsford is such a quaint, beautiful place with tons of spas, shops and restaurants. But back to the clothes! I absolutely loved this crochet/lace tunic dress. I paired a simple black tank underneath and kept the jewels to a minimum. It wasn't until halfway through the shots, that I realized the turquoise wrap bracelet was adorned with skulls!

I hear a lot of comments about how readers wish they could afford the clothes I wear. When I ask where they shop-I hear Target, Kohls, Macys etc. I agree that those stores have some great deals, however, I am a firm believer that you can wear boutiquey, unique pieces without breaking the bank! I really feel that much of what I wear is affordable as I always try to be $$ conscious. However, I do realize that "affordable" is a relative term. For instance, the dress and tank together were under $125. I bought my shoes online with free shipping and coupons, so they were less than $75. SJ's actually has Trendy Tuesday where you can  get 25% off one item the second Tuesday of every month! You may have to go an extra mile to find unique pieces, but it's worth it if you want to elevate your wardrobe!

Nautical Inspired Style: Part 2

[top: Anthro(on sale!)pants: Gap(old), similar, bag: DooneyBurke, sandals: NineWest, necklace: chloe+isabel, earrings: C.Wonder]

Do you have plans set for the Fourth yet? Rachel and I are rounding out our nautical week with style inspirations for your home and closet. I love the navy and white combo of this look. The top was a major score from Anthropologie's sale rack and there's still more in case you were curious! {29 down from 98!)Again with me and the ruffles-I love them, so when I saw this with the detailing in the back, I just had to have it. I pulled out my wide leg linen pants from Gap. They are such a timeless piece.

Nothing says more nautical to me than a nylon navy bag. This Dooney and Burke is extremely roomy inside and lined in hot pink. Stuff all of your things in there for your outing on the 4th.

I personally am a freak about fireworks. If I'm watching them and they are close to me-I usually end up screaming and embarrassing myself because I think they're much closer to me than they are, or I actually do get hit. not kidding. So I'll be watching from afar this year! Hope you have a safe one! XO

Nautical Inspired Decor: Ropes Course Part 2 with Rachel*Rebecca

Here are some more amazing nautical treats for your space!  My theme: "rope," with a little rugged & refined look!  While having a "theme" keeps things organized, too much of the same can be an overkill!  I love finding a few special touches to sprinkle in your space and done!   Since we are into summer and I'm currently working on a beach home for a client, I'm definitely seeing and feeling coastal like!  How about this perfect sea~foamy green piece of coral on a glass base?!  Not only a soothing color but was also soothing on the wallet for $25 from Homegoods!  Pop her anywhere and you immediately have sea side beauty!  Don't stop at the bookcase, think of your foyer! Your  foyer is the first thing your guests see when they come in, so have fun with it, no matter how big or small & change it up seasonally.  Lanterns are great to add ambiance and a glow, I'm loving this Cynthia Rowley milk-glass rope combo that was only $39.99.  I've paired that with a rope-jute like frame with a greeting card from Trader Joes, for a grand total of $9, instant art!  So whether you're rugged or refined, or a little of each, mix and match those opposites for an overall well balanced look!

Welcome to July! I can't believe how quickly June passed. The kids are out of school, warm weather is finally here and this week we'll be celebrating the Fourth of July! If you read yesterday's post, you know Rachel and I have combined forces to bring you a week of nautical inspired style for the home and wardrobe. While shopping at one of my favorite local boutiques, Paislee, this ruffled white blouse caught my eye. It's such a statement piece and quite a different take on a classic. Not only are the ruffles unique but the texture is delicate and feminine.

It's hot, hot, hot this week but these pants are lightweight with a capital L. Made of tencel, they are soft and airy. Perfect for a Summer night. I love the wide leg. Skinnies would have me sweatin' in this heat.

I like keeping the accessories neutral but feel free to add some color with a bright belt or be totally patriotic with some red heels!
