Let's face it....the 90's are back. Overalls, grunge, even 'NSync has made an appearance, even if it was for much shorter than even they expected. Before you go taping yourself with 3 other girlfriends singing Color Me Badd's I Adore Mi Amor [who, me?] why not just embrace this 90's fashion comeback and slip into your Birkenstock clogs. Our celeb Lily Collins was just six months old when the 90s began, but she's styled that extra large plaid flannel around her waist like a true 1990's pro. I just hope it was taken from the Men's section. I dissected her outfit so you too could be 90's cool in 2014.

Happy Monday! Nothing like jumping back at it with a son who has strep and a segment on TV. I love visiting Norma and Jennifer at the CW Rochester station and this month was no exception. I dished about beauty products that have become cult classics in their own right. Most of the products are 10 dollars or under but I had to include just one splurge that would make a fantastic gift. Top 5 Highlights from the Lucky Magazine Blogger Conference #LuckyFABB

#5: Unapologetically Plastic: How the World's Most Iconic Doll Remains Relevant: Barbie Lunch

 I was fortunate to attend this interesting luncheon celebrating the one and only icon: Barbie. Everyone has a Barbie story from their childhood. I personally was more biased towards my Cabbage Patch Collection but I do remember the handmade clothes my Grandmother knitted for my Barbies and the pink plastic carrying case she was stored in. Love her or hate her, Barbie can inspire girls that anything is possible. You can be an astronaut, computer engineer, doctor, teacher or whatever else you put your mind to.

#4: The LuckyFABB Swag Bag





I was told attendees would be getting an amazing amount of loot, but I was absolutely blown away by the gi-normous swag bag given as we left the conference. I was having a hard time navigating back to the hotel because it was that heavy. I can't wait to share with you some of the amazing products and treasures discovered! I would compare it to my best Christmas morning. I patiently took out each item, examined it, discussed with my Mom and then continued on to the next. Nice and slowwwww so I could savor each gift.

#3: Interview with Kate Bosworth



My all access pass scored me a seat in one of the first 3 rows. Being this close to Kate Bosworth was unbelievable. She is delicate and poised and when she gushed about her husband I thought awww.....newlywed. Just wait until he starts bitching about the house being a mess the day you left for a conference. or something like that...Anyway, she just launched a collection with TopShop, a fabulous retailer that delivers great fashion at an affordable price. I will have to buy something simply because it's got Kate's stamp of approval. 

#2: P&G Beauty: New Bloggers of Beauty Contest

I had the chance to participate in the "New Voices of Beauty" casting contest sponsored by COVERGIRL, Olay, Pantene and Secret. There were 30 bloggers selected and each had to do an on camera interview and were asked a series of questions. Easy breezy, right? I've been on camera before. Simple. Uh...WRONG-O! Little did I know that there were 3 bloggers in different corners of the room being interviewed at the same time. Can you say ADD? And my camera man kept silently and rather violently motioning to another camera man about something he wasn't doing correctly. Again, can you say ADD? I found myself rambling about how I was an "old" blogger. Lovely. Yes, work with me because I'm...OLD. Great selling point. AND the very infamous Anna Wintour [editor of Vogue] got on the elevator where we were all waiting, except it was when I was in the interview room so I missed her! So why is this the second most exciting highlight of my experience? Because it was just that--an amazing experience that I will NEVER forget. Until I'm old and then of course I won't remember a thing, which accordingly to me might be as early as tomorrow. 


#1: Eva Mendes wears my scarf as a head wrap! 






I think just listening to Eva Mendes would have been my number one highlight regardless if she had worn my scarf or not. There is every reason to love this girl. She is down to Earth, funny, classy and intelligent. I think everyone in that room felt that they could be best friends with her. But here's how my moment went down...Eva Chen, editor of Lucky magazine, asked Eva M. what was one thing she always packs in her suitcase. A scarf to wrap her big hair, she said. Eva Chen wondered how exactly she donned the look and Eva M. asked if anyone in the audience had a scarf. Guess who had an eye chart scarf purchased from our local Thread boutique just 2 weeks ago in her bag? Frantically, I pulled it out and waved it around. Luckily, no one else had one or maybe their neurons weren't firing quite as fast as mine. I passed it up on stage and Eva began wrapping her head in my gigantic scarf. What impressed me most is she did it perfectly without a mirror. A definite hidden talent. I got the scarf back and I'm pretty sure it won't be seeing a washing machine for quite a bit of time. [like ever]

So there it is, love bugs. My very first and hopefully not my last Lucky FABB conference. I want to give my readers a HUGE thank you for supporting The Fluff Report. Without your interest, I would never have the courage to continue blogging and therefore never would have ended up at this amazing conference. We all have busy lives and adding another read to the list can be overwhelming in itself, so thanks for sticking with me on this journey! You're the BEST!

Searching through Carrie's closet, I discovered #1 an insane amount of cardigans and #2 lots of fun, pretty prints. Beauty is In the Eye of the Beholder

It wasn't even an option when I saw Thread advertise this scarf on Facebook. I literally had one on hold in 30 seconds. An oversized eye chart scarf for an eye doctor? Duh. I love the ombr√© coloring and most importantly the message conveyed. Can you figure out what it says? 

While we are on the topic of messages, the one on this Old Navy sweatshirt is a bit more obvious. Graphic sweatshirts are everywhere by the way! Layer it over a plaid button down to mix it up.

No one has obsessed over OTK boots more than me. The measuring tape came out to see if a boot with 20.5'' shaft height would be adequate or if I should go for the 22''. Oops...the 22" were $598. Guess the 20.5" will work. They came to a mere $87.

Making the Effort

Making the effort every day has been on my mind lately. It's fall, the typical time for dressing up. Fashion Month opens the floodgates to trendy people. And while, life may have other things in store for you: unusually warm October, working at home, not working at all... etc, making an effort still matters. Yesterday I was just talking about how making an effort doesn't have to be too much work. It's just a matter of planning things a little. The MOST common question I get regarding The Fluff Report is "How do you find the time?" I try to be a dedicated doctor, wife, friend, daughter and Mom, but I do have hobbies. Don't you? Hobbies are relaxing and enjoyable and in my personal opinion make you a more well rounded individual. And although it would be my dream to make TFR a full time job, in reality it is still a hobby.

In the Box: PopSugar Must Have

Have you heard of the mail order box subscriptions? The ones that send you monthly packages with treasures and treats waiting inside. Whoever was the genius that thought of this concept had me in mind. I like nothing more than pulling into the driveway and seeing a package at my front door. It's a small rush of excitement, wondering what's in the box. The PopSugar MustHave Box puts new meaning to that question because literally I have no idea of what is in that box. It's a miracle I got pictures of the insides all nice and wrapped because I really wanted nothing more than to tear right through it. Enjoy! it said. Oh yes, I will. This was my first month. Rifle Paper Co. paper coasters: These are beautiful flowered paper drink coasters that are just my aesthetic. I have them sprinkled throughout my entertaining rooms and they add a little romance to the decor. Think of these next time you need a hostess gift! [ooh..and I love this iPhone case from them too]
Shoptiques gift card: This was a bit disappointing. I was hoping for more beauty/fashion items but understand since this month was more about the home than anything else. I will not use this...perhaps a good giveaway item? and I do love this initial bangle
Kitsch Headbands: I have short hair, so I won't really be using these unless I'm pulling my hair back while washing my face. 
Sharkies fruit bar and energy chews: Since I'm an avid runner, I will definitely try these out. It's just that I've been lazy busy and haven't had a chance yet. 

I did a ton of research on all the beauty/fashion themed subscriptions and decided on the MustHave Box from PopSugar because I really liked the previous box contents. For this month, I'd have to give this box a B-. I do love the concept though and I'm still super excited to get October's box (which is on it's way!). Splurge Vs. Steal: What I Want NOW!

I've been obsessing over the Stuart Weitzman 5050 over the knee boots in black suede. Problem is they would set me back 600 dollars and I kinda need to pay the mortgage. So I set out on another familiar mission of trying to find a cheaper, similar option. I think the Vince Camuto Karita boots are looking extremely close. One reader review actually compared them to the 5050 and called them a great deal. Sold!

As far as bargain finds for jewels and baubles, BaubleBar is the place to go. I love the overabundance of fun gems and statement pieces that are always on trend. Head over there now for the Friends and Family deal. 10% off a $50 dollar purchase and the savings go up the more you spend. You can find many amazing finds under fifty on Stella & Dot, but for this round, BB wins. 

I'm on the hunt for an oversized chunky cable knit sweater. [Hello 1990's, it's me, Becky] The Row option should not even be called an option. If you ever find me spending one thousand three hundred and twenty dollars on a sweater then I've won the lottery in which case, I'll buy you one too.  For now, I'll stick with the fab choice from Madewell.

Fluff Color Trend: Paprika




For me, Fall is synonymous with tall boots, pumpkin patches, hayrides and apple crisp. For my friend Sarah, it's something "rust" in the wardrobe. Or paprika as she likes to call it. Don't mind if I do as well. Has a much better ring than burnt orange, brick red, or rust. When I thought about what piece I would pull out of my closet, I realized I didn't have a single piece of paprika waiting for me. Well, that's all about to change. Researching this warm cozy color, I had no problem finding a ton of ideas on how to incorporate it among my neutrals. As a matter of fact, paprika goes !pop! with navy or gray. I may even take the next step and go for the popular monochromatic look. Nothing old and rusty 'bout that...
