Looking at these pictures, would you think this girl got kicked out of a parking lot while taking innocent blog photos? It happened. I guess I should know better than to try and have a photo shoot in the lot of the biggest law firm in town. I managed to squeak in a few that made the final cut. Take that Mr. Security guard!

I'm a blazer type of girl and early September is our "back to school" time so I couldn't wait to pull out my classic navy with gold buttons. Yes, I had sweat dripping down my face because it's 80 degrees and I'm wearing a blazer but it will cool down soon enough. I know this because I'm wearing my smart glasses. Quirk up traditional with printed pants, a jeweled collar oxford and bright smoking slippers. In case you read that too fast, I said QUIRK not TWERK. As much as I love this outfit, I wouldn't want to see any of you twerking in it. No offense...

September Savings Series

My Mother once said to me that I could not go 5 days without buying something. Ha! HA! I scoffed at her and claimed that I could easily do that and vowed to prove her wrong. (My Mom has a way of knowing that reverse psychology ALWAYS works on me) My intentions were good...great even, but 4 days into it I saw something that I had to have (funny how I can't even remember what it was) and oops...mission failure.

This time around I'm upping the ante. Mom, I'll raise your 5 days to 30 and go the ENTIRE month of September without purchasing a single clothing item or beauty product. Excluded in this promise are the essentials that need replenishing, such as shampoo, moisturizer, and any beauty products that are a part of my everyday routine.

To my lovely readers, I may need your support and encouragement to get through what I consider the BEST month to buy. I love Fall fashion. It's my absolute favorite, but I think I can rework my closet and show how to pull together pieces in different ways.

So look for my posts this September on how you can save too. I'm by no means an expert but I do have some tricks up my cute little cap sleeve!

Enjoy your Labor Day weekend and be safe!

Fluff on the News: Fall Fashion Trends: Cobalt Blue & Leather

Once again, I had a great time on our local CW this morning! I got to chat with Jennifer Johnson about two of my favorite Fall fashion trends: cobalt blue and leather. I felt like I was out to coffee with my girlfriend discussing the latest fashion. Thanks to Jennifer for making me feel so welcome! If you'd like to find out what I suggest about incorporating these trends into your wardrobe, click the link and enjoy!

Happy Friday! It's been a whirlwind week with hosting a Stella & Dot party on Wednesday, packing for our mini-vacay to Pittsburgh and preparing for my next segment on channel 13 which will be airing Monday. I did have time to squeak out some pics and putting together this outfit was a breeze since I just followed Carrie's inspiration from last week's post. My new leopard print slip ons gave it a little twist. I had to pay homage to my beloved Red Sox even though I'm a born and raised New Yorker. Plus it's one of the only hats that will fit my pea head.

I finally found a pair of boyfriend jeans that I love from Ann Taylor Loft. Myself from the 90's wore this exact ensemble. Baggy shirt, relaxed jeans, baseball cap. So it's only natural that I would make Carrie take a throwback cheerleading jump picture.

Enjoy your weekend and if you get a chance, take a peek at Stella & Dot's new Fall collection! I want EVERYTHING! Thanks for reading!

Dare to Bare!

 photo 29dc423a-7379-478e-bb2e-7db9da8c247f.jpg

Do I dare say that summer is coming to an end? Don't throw your rotten tomatoes at me yet.  I'm here to soften the blow and show you some products that will enhance that gorgeous glow the sun gave you even though you've been wearing SPF 90 all summer. Running out the door in 5 minutes and looking beautiful while doing it has never been so easy if you just follow these steps...

1. Seventh Generation's skin firming oil helps set the base for what's to come. I've discussed the importance of oils before and will remind you that oil will not make your face more oily or cause more break-outs. When it replenishes the skin with the oil you need, it's less likely to produce more. Oh and anything with the word "firming" in the title get a big gold star from me!

2. A little tinted moisturizer is all you need to enhance the summer glow. The Face Stockholm mineral formulation diffuses light and minimizes fine lines. Fine by me!

3. Another light reflecting product, Smashbox's Soft Lights shimmer powder can add a little rosy glow when swept across the cheekbones and try highlighting at the temples and nose for more radiance.

4. If the Naked Palette hasn't achieved iconic status yet, it will sometime soon. The Naked basics has stripped to just that..the basics. Six "nakedly neutral" shadows that are all matte come in a slimmed down travel size version. May I suggest trying the "Walk of Shame" if you haven't already (yes, that's a shadow name)?

5. Hold up everyone...This product is screaming my name. I love the ballet pink cover and crisp silver container. The Dior Addict Lip Glow is a sheer balm that will moisturize and enhance those natural lips of yours. It also has mango butter in it. Delish!

6. I know I'll never have Kate Upton brows like on the cover of Vogue or Cara Delevingne's brows on a good, bad or in-between day but when I want to give them a more natural look, I brush on some clear gel to perk them up a bit and at least get them all going in the same direction. Try Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel.

Bar Cart Class

This post is a little different from my usual fashion and beauty related topics, but fun nonetheless. I've recently moved and have been focusing a lot of my time on making my house a home. As the song says, we get by with a little help from our friends and so I leaned on my dear friend and amazing interior designer, Rachel Clark from Rachel Clark Designs to tackle some projects.  Rachel recently did a segment on our local ABC tv station on the bar cart craze. I was certainly one to jump on board. I found this golden beauty in my mother-in-law's basement chipped, white and begging for a makeover. Rachel sprayed 'er up and taught me how to decorate the traditional way. Watch her segment here on how to use your bar cart in different, fun ways.

Ever since Mad Men hit TV, the bar cart obsession began.  Have you seen all the fabulous choices?  Whatever your style, there is a cart for you!  What’s not to love about glass, and mirrors, and things that shine!?  If it were up to me, I would have a bar cart in every room, not because I’m a heavy drinker, but because they are amazing little pieces of furniture that can be so many different things.  For instance; the obvious,” bar cart.”  The bottles of liquor are quite beautiful & show off like art.  The” end table”; they are small and typically have a couple shelves one for books/magazines and the other for a lamp and necessary glass of water.  The “mini Office”; small space saver for sure.  Set that baby up with the perfect supplies needed, and she’s business savvy!  Last but not least, “Bathroom Storage,” some of us are lucky to have some extra room in the ladies lounge, so why not pretty it up with some extra rolled towels, jewels for dressing & bottles of perfume for the finishing touch before we are off to start our day.   So, even if you don’t drink, raise your glass to bar carts; the most versatile little piece of beauty and function all in one!

My Best Friend's Closet: Comfy & Casual

 photo 449d5fb6-acde-4c3e-a3e3-26639126cfc2.jpg

{jeans(sold out but love these), tee, boots, tote, lips}

When I read through the laundry list of what Carrie was loving this month, I realized she had inadvertently put together the best casual comfy outfit for late Summer/early Fall. I absolutely love her choice of distressed jeans, booties (there's that word again), and Gap tote with a fun yellow stripe. Like Carrie, I also am a fan of Anthropologie's Bordeaux tees. Psst...they are on sale now for 29.95 and come is so many great colors! Fresh's lip treatment is the perfect lip cover for when you don't want to fuss but want to keep your pucker hydrated.

Always an inspiration, Carrie has me digging through my closet to try and put together this same attire. Check back next week for what I come up with!

FYI...GAP is having its Friends event now so be sure to check it out. 35% off online!

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! Don't forget to follow Fluff on Facebook and Twitter

I've been waiting for the right time to wear these Prabal Gurung toughies. I call them the  edgy-out of my comfort zone-heels. Sitting in my closet for months, I could not find an outfit that I felt comfortable in to pair these with. Along came this dress {straight from the photographer's closet} and a perfect match was made. Actually it seems more like opposites attract. It took some getting used to, but I actually like the feminine, soft watercolor dress paired with the edgier lace up bootie heels. (anyone else hate the word bootie when referring to shoes?) And the mix of pretty pearls and harder chains mimic the classy-sassy vibe.

And now I'm off to read the September issue of Lucky magazine with Blake Lively on the front. She's such a style icon!

Hometown Love

When I graduated high school a few years back, I swore I'd never live in Rochester again. I wanted a bigger city, more adventure, more culture. So I did it. I moved to Greenville, NC. (Go Pirates!) Ok, so not exactly big city but definitely a culture  shock  change. From there I lived in Boston, New Mexico, Tennessee and settled in Los Angeles. I loved everything about the beach, sunshine and Hollywood. Life was good until it wasn't. I was 26, a doctor, and still borrowing rent money from the parents. I was talking to my Mom and best friend (who happened to live in Rochester) 3 times a day. I suddenly realized that I would rather be sitting in front of a fire in a snowstorm drinking wine with my best friends than walking on the beach alone. So the impulsive little lady that I am, I packed my car and drove cross country to move back to Rochester. It was only going to be a short time until I saved money to move to Atlanta. But of course love got in the way and here I am perfectly happy in...Rochester.

I must say there are so many great things that I love about this city. Sure you can sit around and complain about the fact that it seems like winter 8 months out of the year, or you could...take up skiing? It's all about finding where to go and what to do. I always look at It's a great new resource for discovering the places to be when in the ROC.  For instance, I had no idea we had a Road Truck Rodeo once a month which is a huge culinary trend right now. If you are local, you must check this website, started by a husband and wife who moved back to Rochester after being gone for many, many years away. Sound familiar?

I'm you still live in your hometown or have you moved on?

Style and Beauty Combo: Navy & Nude

Wedding season is still in full force and I always have a hard time deciding what to wear. Will I be overdressed? Underdressed? Look like a bridesmaid? Look like a groomsmen? There is no indecisiveness though when it comes to this dress. Soft navy draping pleats can fit in with an outdoor garden wedding or indoor formal affair. Nude kitten heels read sweet sophistication and more importantly won't kill you by the end of the night after dancing on the tables. C'mon, we've all done it, right? right?

What goes best with a navy and nude combo? Navy and nude makeup of course! Bobbi Brown always has the most alluring makeup campaigns. I can't wait to try the eye palette This time last year I couldn't find a huge selection of creme shadows. But times have changed my friends. After seeing the FACE creme shadows and now Bobbi's Suede, I won't have any trouble stocking up.
