Ahh...So many beautiful nail colors, where do I begin? It seems everywhere I look I see a new "fall nail trend". Navy, metals, bordeaux (the color of the season), textured top coats, shimmer, glitter, neutrals, metallic french manis. The list goes on for miles.  Is your head spinning yet? Good, I'm not alone. The navys and burgandys are so rich and creamy. I'd drink them if they weren't so toxic. And of course I had to include some of my favorite ever classy reds. Great for all seasons!

If you're a Mom, you understand the importance of pockets. The other day on Facebook a friend posted she found a twenty dollar bill in her daughter's shorts pocket. Not me. I find old dried up wipes, random Legos, and minature plastic PowerRanger weapons. But that's all fine by me. It reminds me of the two silly, crazy boys I love and cherish and the thought that this is all going too fast. Sooner than later I'll be wishing to find a old Scooby Doo bandaid or broken Matchbox car versus a lipgloss or bobby pin. On second thought, a lipgloss wrapped in a twenty might trump those chewed up lollipop sticks. Either way, pockets on a bright pink dress are cas cool, fun, little treasure holders.

Artsy Mamas 2012

photography by: Rich Paprocki

Artsy Mamas 2012 was a huge success! A big thank you to all those who came out to shop, eat, socialize and most We raised over 1000 dollars for the Ana Duo fund in Laura Rider's honor. It was a beautiful night and I was so proud to be a part of the AM committee this year. And if you were wondering who won the "End of Summer Beuaty Bag"? It was the little gem, Luna, who you see playing guitar. She sounded amazing belting out Katy Perry and Adele tunes. In my opinion, you can never be too young to enjoy fun beauty products! She's definitely a fashionista in the making.

Seeing Spots

As an Optometrist, "I see floating spots" is one of the most common complaints I hear from patients. Right behind "My vision is blurry" and "My Viagra is making me blind." Fine, so that last one isn't that common, but it honestly was an actual complaint. And let me tell you, he was CON-CERNED. Yes, it was AWK*WARD. Anyways...I prefer another type of spot, the polka dot. Love that these jeans are somewhat subtle. Honestly though, I'm having a hard time finding the perfect shirt to go with them. Suggestions anyone? anyone? I'll keep looking but in the mean time, I'll obsess over these ankle boots. And the question on whether Viagra or vision is more important...

A Little Bit of Leather Love

Untitled Photobucket brightjeanssunglasscopy
Photobucket Top: Gap, Necklace: House of Harlow, Sunglasses: Espirit, Earrings: Stella&Dot, Belt: Free People, Watch: J. Crew, Jeans: J. Crew, Shoes: Wanted, similar

At first I thought this post would be about my colored jeans, because colored jeans are so cool and fun. But hey~unless you live under a rock, you already know they are a fabulous trend that is here to stay. My favorite part of this outfit is actually my House of Harlow 1960 5 station necklace. It's very art deco and modern. So very not me but it caught my eye and I couldn't resist. I love that I can take part in the leather obsession that's going around without feeling too out of my comfort zone. Yes, the necklace has leather in it! So cool and fun. Kinda like colored jeans...

Pink Beauties

Top: H&M, Shorts: Piperlime, Necklace: Stella&Dot, Ring: Vintage, Bracelets: old, Sunglasses: Ray Ban, Shoes: Nine West

If you had told me that I'd wear pleated polyester shorts again like back in '92, I probably would have popped you one. 'Cause back in '92, they were white and see through and I didn't know that trick of wearing beige undergarments under white and, well,  you see where this is going...Let's just say the guys were happy to see me walk down the hall. But I couldn't resist them in bright pink all these years later. This outfit makes me feel girly and feminine, plus I had another score out of Mom's jewelry box with the pearl cluster ring. I love a little matchy-matchy with the bright pink lipstick too. Biggest bonus: no three ring binder needed to cover up the backside...not a see through stitch in these beauties!

A Penny for Your Thoughts...

I'm seeing the metallic trend everywhere for fall. I don't know if I want to attempt it in denim, but nails I can do. I can definitely do nails. Essie has a new mirror metallics collection with five amazing colors. I tried the coppery "penny talk" and it reminded me of liquid metal. I love the rose gold appearance. Caution: this polish is distracting in the best possible way. I found myself taking frequent breaks when writing this post to gaze at the mirrory reflection. Fine idea if you're writing a blog; Bad idea if you're driving a car...

1. no place like chrome
2. blue rhapsody
3. nothing else metals
4. good as gold
5. penny talk

What I'm Loving Today...

I've been told a time or two that I'm an animated gal. And while extreme facial expressions are superb if you're learning how to mime, they don't help much in the "preventing crow's feet" department. Hence my use of eye cream religiously for the past 1o years. I've only tried a few different brands over the ages but picked this one up on a whim. Maybe the word "glycolic" lured me in. That sounds nice and...potent. Well, I LOVE it! I. Love. It. I swear my shrinking eye wrinkles are cowering as I write this. The glycolic acid promotes exfoliation and it contains Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps reduce fine lines and restore moisture. It's recommend for overnight use, but I use it during the day and it seems to blend right it. Bonus use: rub excess around lip area as an emollient treatment.
